Podcast: The Gang’s All Here!

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

On this episode of the Ale Evangelist Show, the gang’s all here, and they’ve got some beers to drink.

The show beers this episode were brought to you by Manteca Joe, as he donated the Cutthroat Porter from Odell Brewing and the Braveheart Nitro Scottish Style Ale from Left Hand Brewing. What a great way to celebrate the guys getting back together than some fantastic beers from Colorado?

In a fun departure from the regular show fodder, a listener submitted their homebrew to see if we could give them some insight into what went wrong. The guys all try this beer and give their opinion on what went wrong/right, and what can be done to help this listener brew in the future.

Finally, some local and national beer news. Don’t miss this episode of the Ale Evangelist Show.

Podcast: Solo Local Grab Bag

On this solo episode of the Ale Evangelist Show, the Scotsman covers a variety of topics, most of which center around the Central Valley beer scene.

To begin, the coveted uKeg finally arrives, and the Scotsman discusses whether it was worth the 3 year wait.

Next, FINALLY, Blaker Brewing is open, and the Scotsman gives his impressions of the taproom as well as the brewhouse. Is it worth drinking? Is it worth visiting? If you’ve been listening to the show for any length of time, I think you know the answer to those questions, but you might be surprised at the lone criticism he has for them.

Finally, the Scotsman reviews our last remaining local homebrew supply store, Renegade Brewing Supply, and gives his impressions of whether they’re a worthy local business. (Anyone who’s been there already knows that answer beyond the shadow of a doubt.

It’s solo, but the Scotsman can pontificate (or bloviate) with the best of them. Don’t miss this episode of the Ale Evangelist Show!

Podcast: Old Dogs of Brewing

The Sentry IPA, from New Glory Brewing Company. Does it live up to the hype? Listen and find out!

On this short episode of the Ale Evangelist Show, the Scotsman flies the show alone and tries the Sentry IPA from New Glory Brewing Company. They bill this bad boy as a West Coast IPA, so the Scotsman talks about the American IPA style and discusses whether or not this beer is classified correctly. In addition, the Scotsman covers an article from BeerAdvocate magazine written by Andy Crouch about how the Old Dogs of Brewing are relying on some New Tricks.  Is it worth it? Will it save Craft Beer? Is craft beer really worth saving if it means the inclusion of these adulterated adult beverages?

Finally on a more concerning note, the Scotsman makes a heartfelt plea for prayer for the Rodbo family. Details are in this show.

Podcast: Drew’s Gone AWOL

On this episode, Rodbo and the Scotsman mock Drew, who forgot they were supposed to record today. They taste a couple of listener donated beers, as well as they talk about the Belgian Tripel and Dark Strong styles.

They talk about blood-alcohol levels and how many drinks it takes to get there.

Finally, they talk about whether or not Annheuser Busch is producing water or just being more honest on their labeling. It’s a grab bag of topics AND listener donated beer, with the trademark distractions and rabbit-trails you’ve come to know and love from the Ale Evangelist Show.

Don’t miss it!

The Dark Reckoning from Morgan Territory. THIS is why you need to go there!

On this highly distractible episode of the Ale Evangelist Show, Rodbo and the Scotsman drink the absolutely epic and tasty Dark Reckoning from Morgan Territory Brewing Company in Tracy, CA. How to describe it? Let’s just say this beer is an award-winner for GOOD REASON.

The Scotsman also describes what his visit to Morgan Territory was like. Rodbo and the Scotsman also have a small disagreement as to whether breweries should have food.  What do you think? Weigh in at 209-800-ALES, and let us know!

The Scotsman also explains a little about Morgan Territory’s history, and it goes back before they were known as Morgan Territory.

Cheers to Morgan Territory for having such amazing beers. If you’re wondering why you should go there, you don’t want to miss this episode of the Ale Evangelist Show!
