The Dark Reckoning from Morgan Territory. THIS is why you need to go there!

On this highly distractible episode of the Ale Evangelist Show, Rodbo and the Scotsman drink the absolutely epic and tasty Dark Reckoning from Morgan Territory Brewing Company in Tracy, CA. How to describe it? Let’s just say this beer is an award-winner for GOOD REASON.

The Scotsman also describes what his visit to Morgan Territory was like. Rodbo and the Scotsman also have a small disagreement as to whether breweries should have food.  What do you think? Weigh in at 209-800-ALES, and let us know!

The Scotsman also explains a little about Morgan Territory’s history, and it goes back before they were known as Morgan Territory.

Cheers to Morgan Territory for having such amazing beers. If you’re wondering why you should go there, you don’t want to miss this episode of the Ale Evangelist Show!

Podcast: The Return of Rodbo

On this rabbit-trail-riddled episode of the Ale Evangelist Show, Rodbo and the Scotsman discuss how great of a beer location Oregon is, as well as Rodbo AND Takuma’s trip to the Pacific Northwest. Rodbo brought back a braggot from Viking Braggot Company (http://drinkviking.com), which he actually enjoyed! (It was an IPA. Wonder of wonders!)

The guys also discuss the recent acquisition of Magnolia Beer Company in San Francisco, why several other breweries across the United States have closed in the last year, AND discuss why it’s difficult to open a brewery in this challenging beer climate. They had a good time with Rodbo returning to the show after some surgery, but they did have a hard time focusing.

Podcast: IPA Day

On this bitter, floral episode of the Ale Evangelist Show, the Scotsman and Drew are overwhelmed by the bitterness of IPA Day as the same the Yakima Express from Silva Brewing Company.  Even after a month in the can, this beer is almost too bitter for the both of them.

They talk about the history of IPA Day, which is a happy subject.

Then, they shift to the recent acquisition of Anchor Brewing Company by Sapporo.

A cool discussion of the history of both of these venerable organizations means you don’t want to miss the next episode of the Ale Evangelist Show.

Podcast: Be Judgemental, It’s a Good Thing!

One of the old-style scoresheets from BJCP competitions.

On this information-packed episode of the Ale Evangelist Show, the Scotsman and Drew sit down with Peter Munoz, certified beer judge, to talk about what beer judging is all about.

The guys talked about off flavors, beer scoring, and what judges are looking for in competitions. It might surprise you to know that beer judges aren’t judging based on whether or not they liked the beer, and that’s just the beginning of this dense subject.

Peter scores the Scotsman’s latest beer, and they talk about what could have made it better, and the guys all try a few of Peter’s beers.

Peter turned on the informational fire hose on this episode of the Ale Evangelist Show. You don’t want to miss it.
